Dermal fillers are a way to combat wrinkles without surgery. They are a relatively painless procedure that works like instant wrinkle removers. Done in less than 20 minutes, we can create a young, youthful-looking frame around your smile today!
What are dermal fillers?
A dermal filler is mostly composed of a substance called hyaluronic acid (HA) that retains water and a protein called collagen, which are both found naturally in the body. When the amount of HA and collagen in our skin or muscles decreases due to aging, wrinkles naturally result. By injecting HA and collagen back into the skin, facial wrinkles and folds are filled, adding volume and fullness, and a more youthful appearance is restored.
Dermal fillers are most commonly used around the nose, mouth and eyes. However, fillers can also be used on the lips to increase fullness and push up the corners of the lips.
Why come to a dentist for dermal fillers rather than a cosmetologist?
In order to provide dermal filler injections, a dentist needs to have undergone training in this treatment. Dr. Dawson and Dr. Bradford not only has the clinical training to perform results just as exceptional as a cosmetologist, but can also discuss your aesthetic goals, including your smile and teeth, for a more comprehensive treatment plan. Additionally, we use minimally invasive dermal fillers that are approved as safe by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
What kind of dermal fillers are typically offered at dental offices?
There are various types of dermal fillers available, and the specific ones offered at dental offices may vary. However, many dental offices offer hyaluronic acid-based fillers, such as Juvederm and Restylane, which are FDA-approved and provide long-lasting results.
Is it safe to get dermal fillers at a dental office?
Yes, getting dermal fillers at a dental office is generally safe. Dentists who offer this service have received specialized training in administering injections and follow strict safety protocols to minimize the risk of complications.
How long do dermal fillers last?
A typical dermal filler procedure takes less than 20 minutes and results can last anywhere from three months up to 12 months. Once the results have worn off, a repeated procedure should be scheduled.
